The very first thing that my body needs in the morning is water. Water will aid in weight loss, mood and other bodily functions. Water with a slice of lemon is ideal. As my brain begins to wake, so do my thoughts. I use this to my advantage and journal to clear my head of the emotional baggage of to do lists and first light ideas.

YOGA. I love a yoga practice. When I am in a consistent routine, yoga is something that helps me find my center. It certainly has it’s health benefits by increasing both strength and flexibility. Yoga has also helped me be accepting of who I am and where I am in the present moment. The body is different from day to day and this is why it is called a yoga PRACTICE. Even a commitment of five minutes a day will help you reap both mental and physical rewards.

Green Smoothie. By the time I reach this point in my day, I have had coffee, journaled, practiced yoga and had a shower. It’s time for breakfast and to take the children to school. I was not a breakfast person for a long time in my life. I mean, I love breakfast foods. Who doesn’t? And yet, somehow I am better at feeding the family than I am at feeding myself and this is where the green smoothie comes in. I am able to have a quick, healthy and delicious breakfast ready without having a pile of dishes to clean. And I can sneak in my supplements and take it out the door as well.
